Welcome to DISTRICT XEO, year unknown. Traffic weaves from above. Skyscrapers clad with neon-lit signs fill the horizon. The music emerging from the city is cold and robotic, yet emotive – reflecting its futuristic urban gloom. Mechanical rhythms snap at whiplashing speeds, basslines squelch with funk, and mournful chords drape over pulsing arpeggiated synths. DISTRICT XEO recalls the classic electro-thrills of Drexciya, Aux 88, and Dopplereffekt, to the resurging electro labels of today like Central Processing Unit – reaching into cutting-edge genres like grime, trap, footwork, and beyond. The future isn’t pretty, but it sounds good.
DISTRICT XEO was created by the Berlin-based sound design and production studio IRRUPT.
ALLEYS OF ELECTRO
DISTRICT XEO surges with sub-heavy kicks, zappy snares, laser-cut hi-hats, and alien vocal-chops, loaded into kits for BATTERY and MASCHINE – perfect for constructing robotic rhythms. Bubbling basses, sub-aquatic synths, and emotively-ambient pads come as presets for MASSIVE and MONARK, equipping you with all the elements for crafting gravity-defying grooves. Construction loops of syncopated beats, joint-popping basslines, and extra-terrestrial sounds give you the building blocks for futuristic-sounding productions in a range of electronic styles.
